Performance/Acting Lab
Performance Lab for performers and actors who are interested in having a place to workout and show work. It'll begin with warm-ups and then there will be a variety of physical theater and improvisation and acting exercises. At the end, everyone will have an opportunity to do something in front of everyone...a scene, a monologue, a song, a poem, or just stand there like a dork and get whatever kind of feedback, help, encouragement or support that they want, or have everyone cheer wildly while you stand there like a dork. It's not a class. I'm not purporting to be a teacher. It's a place with a good feeling, a non judgemental atmosphere to try out different exercises, ideas, etc. in front of an audience. People are thoroughly welcome to try it out once before signing up for more. Please email me to get any more information, questions, etc. My email is kpenley@earthlink.net. It's $15/session and there's one on Thursday, March 2 from 7-9pm at Bush and Gough in San Francisco. My name is Karen Penley and I've been performing/teaching /directing for the last 20 or so years and have a M.A. in Theater Arts...I just did a show at the NohSpace called Not the More Lovely: A Circus Sideshow. It was a physicaltheater/multi-media show that was developed through improvisation, based on my writing. My website is home.earthlink.net/~kpenley/circus.htm
