“The Smiling Man” is a short “film noir” style video project being shot this summer in San Francisco. It’s based on the short story of the same name from the detective fiction anthology “Fog City Nocturne,” currently available on Amazon.com.
The role we are casting is for an older Chinese bartender, fiercely street smart, with a sarcastic sense of humor. Must be able to speak English reasonably well, though accent is OK.
Shooting will last a few hours in a single day in August, at a local bar. Rehearsal schedule will be very flexible.
Compensation is meager: Screen credit, 2 copies of finished DVD, and as much exposure as we can make happen for everyone concerned. Could be an ideal chance for a local community theater actor to show his chops!
Please respond to noir@strafe.com, preferably with a headshot and CV. Experience is not necessarily required, but will be given priority.
